# What is Sanctum?

The team behind Sanctum has been building on Solana since 2021. They contributed to the implementation of the stake pool program at Solana Labs (now Agave). After launching their own stake pool under the Socean brand, Sanctum pivoted to focus on providing liquid staking infrastructure.

Infinity, Sanctum’s flagship LST-oriented product, created a liquidity pool for all LSTs to share, effectively reducing the marginal cost of launching an LST to near-0, and enabling LSTs to grow from only a handful of tokens to over a thousand. Ultimately, Sanctum built Solana’s largest LST platform (1,361+ LSTs), launching bespoke, branded LSTs with mega brands like Jupiter (jupSOL), Bybit (bbSOL), crypto.com (cdcSOL), Drift (dSOL), and DeFi Dev Corp (dfdvSOL).

In 2025, the business buttoned up its offering into “[Staking-as-a-Service](https://sanctum.so/staking-as-a-service),” a product that enables teams to spin up custom LSTs and validators, providing millions of dollars in extra revenue across Sanctum partners. Sanctum also expanded into transaction delivery infrastructure with Gateway, which gives teams the ability to take complete control of their transactions on Solana. From optimizing the transactions based on the current network health to ensuring the transaction has the best chances of landing. With Gateway, developers gain real-time control, observability, and optimization over how their transactions are delivered on Solana.

Today, Sanctum has become one of the most important liquid staking protocols on Solana, attracting a diverse audience, including retail users, validators, and institutions.
